Your Site's Audio Sucks! Find Out How to Improve It

Using audio on your website is one of the best ways to effectively and quickly communicate with your customers on a level that they understand. In this day and age, people are used to hearing recordings (either of radio shows, music or podcasts) on their computers of high audio quality. It has come to the point now where this high level of quality recording is the base standard, and anything below that standard will be ignored and cast off.

Unfortunately, most website owners' audio is recorded to a terribly standard, and this can actually hurt them in the long run as it makes their site seem amateur (and no-one wants to buy from an amateur site).

The golden rule here is that you must first invest in a good microphone before anything else can be done. "Your audio is only as good as your microphone" is a common phrase that you'll hear in this industry, and it's absolutely spot on. Secondly, when it comes to actually making a recording you must do your best to eliminate all outside noise that could cause interference. This might mean simply waiting for a time of day when everyone is out at work, or it might mean that you have to do a little bit of soundproofing. This is an especially important point, since all good microphones will pick up even the tiniest background noise (which can often ruin a recording take). Lastly, It is important to consider the kind of room that you are recording in, since different rooms will give you different levels of reverberation.
